James L. Cole, Sr. 76, of Tripoli, died Monday, October 1, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli where friends may greet the family. Memorials may be directed to the family.
James Luverne, son of Everett and Ruby Bathke Cole was born March 14, 1942, in Tripoli. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and received his education in the Tripoli Schools. Jim was united in marriage with Carole Thoms on March 19, 1966, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked at Del’s Auto for many years prior to working at Terex, which he retired from on March 1, 2004, due to health concerns. Jim was a member of St. John Lutheran Church-Buck, rural Sumner and in his early adolescent years the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed tinkering on things in his garage and loved fishing.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carole of Tripoli; six children, James, Jr. (Robin) Cole of New Hartford, Kenny Cole of Waverly, Teresa Cole of Sumner, Jeff (RaeJean) Cole of Waverly, Jason Cole of Sumner, and Brenda (Russ) Bradley of Tripoli; six grandchildren, Cody Blasberg, Chelsey Cole, Kennedy Cole, Jesse Harp, and Brent and Brittney Bradley; one niece, Pam (Kevin) Schwartz of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; and one nephew, Richard (Carol) Buhr of New Hampton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannine Buhr in 2013; brother-in-law, Dennis Buhr in 2018; and niece, Penney in 2003.
